February 2021 UCU Updates

Dear UCU Members,

With the Spring semester underway, the UCU Executive Committee has resumed its regular meetings with the administration. We are working on your behalf to resolve individual member issues and to advocate for your interests as new policies and plans are announced.

Later this month, the UCU Executive Committee will be meeting with representatives from the Health & Safety Committee to discuss members’ concerns. If you would like to bring anything to our attention, or if you have unanswered questions, please let us know so that we can make sure these are addressed.

We are also continuing preparations for contract negotiation, as well as advocating for an official work from home policy to be announced. We anticipate being able to provide updates on these issues at a General Membership Meeting later this semester.

With the phased distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, eligibility for those working in higher education institutions is currently limited to in-person instructors. Like many of you, we are eagerly awaiting the expansion of vaccine availability, and we will share any updates as we receive them.

As we approach the one year mark of the college’s transition to remote learning, we want to remind everyone that a list of mental health resources is on our website (click here). The extended isolation of this last year has been challenging for many, and we encourage you to take care of yourself and look after those around you.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us for any support.

In solidarity,
UCU Executive Committee
